The Cotswold AONB Board love e-bikes!

7th October 2016 | Categories: Uncategorised

For 50 years the Cotswolds have been managed as an “Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty” by a management board who have helped conserve it for future generations. Members of the current Board joined me on a 20 mile e-bike excursion from the AONB headquarters at the Discovery Centre at Northleach on 6th October and everyone agreed –  a guided tour by e-bike is an exceptionally good way of getting up, close and personal with the stunning countryside!

The Directors that joined me were amazed at how effortlessly the e-bikes flattened even the steepest hills and with the quality of the carefully designed route. In contrast to the streams of traffic that use the Fosse Way or the A40, for most of our rides we encountered a vehicle about once every 5 minutes. With a complete mix of age and cycling experience, the e-bike tour demonstrated how the combination of technology and intimate local knowledge can make the Cotswolds accessible to a wide audience.AONB Board Members at Sherborne
