For a truly authentic Cotswold experience, you won’t get better than a visit to the privately owned Donnington Brewery. Established in 1865 by Richard Arkell, the brewery was added to an ancient water mill dating from the thirteenth century. Still operated by the Arkell family, the traditions of brewing ale have been handed down through the generations. We have arranged tours on dates throughout the summer and others can be arranged as private tours by request.
On Father’s Day weekend (20th and 21st June) we are able to enjoy beer tasting and a delicious picnic in the brewery’s delightful surroundings (£160 per person), with a souvenir pack available at the end of the day. On the following dates, we are also able to enjoy a tour of the brew house in action, followed by a picnic (£200 per person): 19th May, 2nd June, 19th June, !st July, 30th July and 27th August – book on the “Calendar” tab.
The day includes e-biking through beautiful Cotswold countryside to reach the brewery from Kingham, a delicious picnic lunch with beer tasting, returning to Kingham via other charming Cotswold villages for a perfect day out. The souvenir pack includes a Donnington pint glass and bottles of beer to enjoy after the trip – other merchandise is available to purchase at the brewery. Over 18’s only.
